| Day has finally come, Nokiamies phone collection and also collection
about my devices has been opened into http://nokiamies.net/collection/collection_fi.htm
(Finnish) or http://nokiamies.net/collection/collection_en.htm
(English). Collection has been split to phones and computers. In future
I may list my consoles and digital cameras on site.
If you are wondering why it took almost 2 years and why it first got 4 phones and 5 computer reasons are simple. During 2 years lot has happened and even though many do not believe it I got life outside of terminal. Second I have been thinking lot how should I do it so it would show apart from other sites. For that I ended up adding personal experiences to every devices and downloads/links related to downloads. For example to Nokia phones I added original user guides (Finnish and English) and some of them device specific info leaflets (Finnish only at the time). I had to search manuals accross Wayback Machine and from CD included with some phones quite some time. Info leaflets I collected in real life and scanned. Also I am writing all articles with two different languages (Finnish and Bad Enklish) and it takes lot juice, I can no more push like when was younger. I guess that is sign of getting old. Third I run this project as non commercial hobby. I ask nothing for browsing this site, I just hope you enjoy it. Well it took under 2 years, Nokiamies site started roll properly 30.8.2023. I learnt lot about running website and working with HTML during it. I had worked before maintaining Web hotels, but running own site was different things What next? Well I got following phones under progress, I got pictures
and other material for them already and I would have to write articles
in two different languages for all of them.
I also play Orbiter 2016 space simulator and BeamNG drive. I never hated technology since it was new, rather because most of modern technology tries recist user too much. For this reason Linux is main operating system for me these days. I had Windows 10 for 10 minutes around 2017 after which I installed Windows 7. I got sick of all antifeatures like forced updates, useless notifications, automatically preinstalled shit programs, advertisement etc. 2018 I gave Windows 10 one last change and I managed stay on it for week while biting teeth until I had enough with performance and other problems. Around same time I began testing Linux as Windows replacement. It took until 2020 before Linux could properly be used as Windows replacements. At this moment it is even better than Windows 10 or 11 in many ways, mainly since Windows 10 and 11 are step backward in usability I also got XP machine with 4th gen Core i5 and other high perfomance parts. I built it originally to prove that Xp work well on powerful machine even though they claim otherwise I also really got old Nokia phones as daily driver and I switch model based on mood. I had 2x Android phones, but both had battery problems in less than two years and since rear covers were glued they were useless. Also I was annyoed when everyone expected me to install every single useless application because I had smartphone and if I did not respond to message withing 10 seconds they sent another one. Eventually I dug up my old Nokia 6600 from closet and it got new battery for it and that is how my journey began to Nokiamies. Since thing has grow up and I gotten lot of new hardware Why am I telling this side from myself even though it may wreck image from me as old technology absolutist? It is because I want show to be human just like everyone else and done all kind of stuff over the years. Just because you lived certain way at some point of your life does not mean you could not change later. Have nice end of summer and enjoy new section!
