| My site has gotten small update. I updated links section for few reasons.
I have removed Protoweb from link list because I am no longer involved
with project and can no more relate into direction project has taken (i
wrote about it earlier).
Also I found I am not only "insane" person who thinks Symbian is decent operating system. While I was browsing the web I stumbled upon Symbian world homepage (http://symwld.com/) which had updated version of Symbian Delight custom firmware from 2021. That may sound old but previous Delight firmware was released in 2014. Luckily Max Bondarchenko who is owner of Symbian world had kept going updating project and added many community updates to it. Unfortunately it no more support other languages than English and Russian but you can replace virtual keyboard with guide found on Symbian world. I fiddled around with project on Nokia C7 "Sonera Edition" (if you wonder why I linked video it's inside joke, but let me give you a hint: guy who plays on commercial was also face of the protagonist on certain Finnish video game) and its big improvement over original 2014 Delight version. Big thank you for Max Bondarchenko for all his work for Symbian community. Also trough that site I found nnproject homepage (http://nnproject.cc/). That site has many useful applications for Symbian/J2ME platform and updates to Symbian. For example Putty S60 that has been updated to work with new SSH chiphers (http://nnproject.cc/putty) and S60 9.1> TLS 1.2 update (http://nnproject.cc/tls/). With these old Nokia E90 can do lot again, email, SSH, Web (sufficent to me atleast) Last but not least Maploader (http://maploader.de) which makes it possible to get Nokia/Ovi maps to download maps off the internet automatically again. Small but useful project. It's great to see old technology to live after corporation abandons it and general (hive mind) opinion turns into "It's old therefore it must be bad". And before anyone starts to split hairs and say I think "It's new therefore it must be bad" that has not evere been my attitude, rather to bring out old and new projects/devices that fits to my criteria instead of just deciating my site to corporate shilling like most people. Happy rest of spring for everyone reading. |
