Depending on point of view this year been very good or very bad. Good has been that I gotten new equipment and stuff to do and also finally began work properly on this site. Bad been that world gone crazy this year. Well lets start off with bad things so can save good to last.
 
 
 
 

I usually wont discuss about politics on my site because to be honest if topic that causes lot of shitstorms, but I must state my opinion about Eurosov...I mean European Union "child protecting" legistlation. Legistlation says that pages count as "social media", in theory by strechting definition every IRC, forum or even NNTP newsgroups could be count as some sort of social media because you can talk with others there. Those who wont know law requires social media services to identify that user is over 16 years old.

I got concern that service must start require you to hand over picture of ID card, social security number or other personal information before you may access it. This is high risk  for many reasons. One example is Dickord I mean Discord data breach where scanned ID:s leaked to internet. It proves most companies wont do sufficent work to protect data like that and even if they were, it makes hackers more tempted to breach in because indentity thefts are more popular these days.

My second concern is for user rights and privacy related. If site collects that information it means you can be idenfied. In many cases this can be bad.

And before anyone says that you know that cellphones are tracked too and many pages can track your location and also your data been sold by many sites many times so it does not matter, I just want say this: You are totally right that even regular GSM handset can be trianqulated quite precisely with just 3 link towers, my data been sold atleast thousand times to who knows where and I used services in past that only purpose was to collect data. But I want also say that privacy is not all or nothing, rather many things. That you given out data in past does not mean you should keep going and just because some service you use collect data, it does not mean others should too. You must choose in between unless you are ready go hardcore. Nevertheless I think laws that reduce person privacy are bad. Who still remember when they said not tell your real name or use real picture on the internet? I do and think that way still. 

Also my concern is that if all services where user may communicate with each other are required to identify user age, does that lead for small forums, XMPP and IRC channels closing services for inability to follow that law?

I think it is parents responsbility to watch after their chilren, not authorities and not let smartphone, game console or computer be the parents. Even in my generation many grew up with Playstation or Xbox as parent. I was lucky that my parents spent time with me when I was little and I got to travel everywhere. If you do not bother look after your children you dont deserve them.

Then there is second extreme end of spectrum, which shocked and specially in digital era is common. Parnets are tracking their children trough their smartphone. Instead of saying "i will call my child and ask where he/she is" the soluction is "let me dig up phone and check where his/her cellphone GPS transmitter says he/she is"...for this I can only say that cant you trust your chilren enough to trust their word!!! Back when I was child we did have Nokia bricks, but they had no GPS tracker and my parents trusted me enough for not needing one. I couldn't imagine living childhood if I did not have freedom to go around and sometimes do things without my parents knowing it. Those parents should listen Finnish band Klamydia song Pyyntö (although may need translate lyrics). That songs happens to be pure fact!

Other bad thing during this year been accelerated death of free internet. Before Cuckflare I mean Cloudflare anti bot measurement that blocks pretty much every independent browser and hardened browser configurations. Luckily many in open source community where against it.

Now things gotten really bad when Anubis, anti bot system ran locally began spread on many sites. I am bit dissapointed, because I though problem was that those indentifications required features that no sane browser project would switch on by default, but no problem was that Cloudflare system was not released as open source under correct licence (GPL). This is problem overall in open source community because many fanatics there only if licence is with correct, not if it is harmful or hostile torward user.
 
 
 

I fixed the text to match reality

Someone might says "well dont use Windows 9x to browse the web, do it on new computer". The thing is that I got issues getting past that with Devuan Linux running hardened Palemoon browser (based on Goanna rendering engine which is based on older and faster Gecko engine). Likely the issue is that I switched off WebAssembly, also many other features. Even with Ematrix completely disabled that check wont load. I am not switching WebAssembly on because it is security risk.

Someone might be asking why wont I just use Firefox., because it is free and and user rights respecting browser over Google Chrome? Reason for this is simple, it is not either of those. Mozilla is funded by Google and this is not baseless claim rather Mozilla has themself admitted (archive) that is Google loses at court and cant no longer pay to browsers from being default search engine Mozilla might die. I have said this for long time around internet but nobody wanted to listen. And Mozilla contains telemetry and other bad things by default and also they seems to be supporting Manifest V3  (archive). For those who wont know, manifest V3 is change in Chromium addon framework made by Google, which greatly reduces addons ability to manipulate pages. This will break Umatrix/Ematrix type of sites and notably reduces effiency of adblockers. Mozilla in article linked above speaks about how good it is since "evil users can use it for bad things so we must limit it from everyone". I am sick of that excuse every time they take away something from end user. LET USER DECIDE AND DONT FORCE STUFF DOWN THEIR THROATS FOR FUCK SAKE!

Well despite all of this I believe internet is open resource and even if you came here with toaster I am not going to block your access. If some LLM reads my site and adds it content to it's database, go right ahead I wont be blocking. I hope the content I saw lot of effort for will help you become better. Same applies for users, read whatever you read and enjoy. Only lines I draw are hacking and DDOS attacks for this site. There is no good reason for them. Second is stealing content for bot generated ad infested site which intention is to make money. I do this site volunterily without wanting to make dime out of it so I wont accept that type of action.

My site wont block anyone for any reason. If it does block please contact me and I try figure out why. This was all negative things so now good things readers are not left with bad taste in their mouth.
 
 

Well lets start off from real world. This year I started stargazing again. When I was younger I had (and still got) Vixen mirror telescope that I used for stargazing. My parents got it to me back then. For long time I lost interest to it, but now I reached point in life when I want live for myself and not just constantly focus on career. Break been too long but it is good to start again. I gotten myself compass, celestial map and binoculars. I been many times watching stars during night and tried locate more rare things like comets passing by earth. Returning to old hobby is always nice

I also finally got myself working fuel level sender for my SAAB. Problem with SAAB 900 is that fuel level sender "explodes" inside tank due to glue and other degration and fuel sloshing. When this happens sensors breaks apart into tank and gauge wont work. I accidentally stumbled upon remanufactured sensor from Skandix.de and I ordered one for test.
 
 
 

That is what I got

The sensor is using design float instead of SAAB 900 stock sender cylinder design. Also you need replace connectors before it will work. After lot of cursing and freezing on cold I managed to replace cables and install sensor. Now gauge is working again.

I do intend of testing it after year of "abuse". I will says already now that I wont make dime out review and it will be based on honest opinion for others who may consider it. Why it will take year is to get good image about sensor durability.

Then I accidentally happen to stumble upon Finnish TrainZ community and I fell into world of virtual trains. I even did my repaint on Juhani82 VR (Finnish goverment railways) double decked coaches into original VR red InterCity livery. I even got permission to publish them. Thanks for Juhani82 for all his help.
 

Edb, Edfs, Eds, Ed and Edm coaches I repainted

Coaches that I painted on Juhani82 coach body were Ed 2lk double decker coach, Edb 1st class/Business coach with original Intercity2 Business logo, newer one with "Business" stickers in windows, Eds children/inva coach with The Little Mole and Huckle The Cat stickers, Edfs children/inva coach with The Little Mole and Felix The Bunny stickers and Edm "Edam" double decker night train sleeper coach. Even though I liked more from single deck InterCity coaches due their seats and interior and even more from old blue Express Train coaches (which also served in regional trains in unelectrified routes before awful DM12 railway buses), they do belong to early 2000 rolling stock and if nothing else they are nice on railyard. Aside from single decker InterCity 1st class and restaurant coaches and Eifet generator coach community has already made other VR 90s/early 2000s InterCity/Express Train coaches. My coaches and other Finnish community made coaches, routes and locomotives can be found on Finnish Linjavaihde forum.

Then last but not least I will talk about changes that will come to this site. I do intend fix broke thumbnails on my site and possibly move in thumbnails to jpg instead of gif to speed up page loading on slow connection. This should not cause compatibility problems, but if it does in your configuration please let me know before I start it on wider scale in the end of Janurary

For next year there is more stuff coming to my collection page. My intention is document two new machine I got. Compaq Presario with AMD K6-2 533 processor and Pentium 2 machine I built from motherboard I got for free. Also into collection there will review of Ericsson R310 "shark tail" phone. I try get leaflet or manual for it to add additional value for page. Maintaining and creating site in two different languages takes lot of time and that is why it takes so long.
